The best of both worlds. I don’t know if you’re like me, but I have three desires. One, the protection of my data. Two, portability. Three, a smaller laptop type device with all the capabilities of a typical laptop. My previous computer crashed due to a defective hard drive, and I found myself taking the longest time before buying the Chromebook. I also wanted something better than a typical tablet. Make no mistake this is a tablet on steroids. It is not a pc, but it is close offering most of benefits of a pc, and in some respects offers considerable advatages.I bought it at a well known national retailer for about the same price as Amazon. What made me decide to buy this computer was the excellent advice given by someone from google who worked at the store.May I say that in terms of sophistication and ease of use it far exceeds a tablet device. I own a Nook, but I would not use it for buying an airline ticket, for example. The following made me decide to…

faster than windows! I publish daily articles in my WordPress blog “Flickrcomments”, also work on twitter, etc. – and was tired of the long waiting times while working with my other Windows notebooks. With the Chromebook now it all works again in a matter of seconds. Yes, I was looking for a device that fits my speed of thinking, rather than hindered. Found, very satisfied!

If you need to run specific Windows-based software, this is probably not the computer for you. That said, I find my Samsung runs Chrome fairly fast, about the same as a decent Window-based laptop with a fast Internet connection. There are a fair number of “offline apps” now, so you can do many functions if no Internet is available: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, file operations including videos and music, e-books, e-mail editing, games, etc.I like the full-size keyboard and the trackpad. The screen is 11 inches on the diagonal, and the speakers are loud (though a bit tinny). The display is crisp and clear; the surface is a dull matte finish which I strongly prefer over the glossy, glaring surface that most screens seem to have these days. Wireless connection was…
